    Incoloy 925 Plate (UNS N09925) — ASTM B983

    Hot-rolled / cold-rolled, annealed or annealed + aged, sour-service compliant

TorqBolt supplies Incoloy 925 (UNS N09925) plate to ASTM B983 (Standard Specification for Precipitation-Hardened UNS N09925 Plate, Sheet, and Strip). Plate is hot-rolled, solution-annealed and may be supplied in either Class 1 (solution-annealed only, ~110 ksi UTS) or Class 2 (solution-annealed and aged, 165 ksi UTS minimum) condition. Used for pressure vessel cladding, sour-service vessel internals, separator components, downhole tool body fabrications, marine flange faces, heat exchanger tube sheets, transition pieces and welded-pipe strip stock. Every plate ships with EN 10204 3.1 manufacturer's MTC documenting actual heat-lot chemistry, mechanical results and heat-treatment cycle vs ASTM B983, API 6A, NACE MR0175 requirements; 3.2 with TPI witness on request. NACE-stamped MTC for sour-service projects.

    Chemical Composition (UNS N09925)

Identical chemistry envelope to ASTM B805 bar / forgings: Ni 42–46%, Cr 19.5–22.5%, Fe 22% min (bal), Mo 2.5–3.5%, Cu 1.5–3.0%, Ti 1.9–2.4%, Al 0.1–0.5%, with C 0.03 max and S 0.03 max. See the full chemical composition page for element-by-element commentary.

    Sour-Service Compliance

Incoloy 925 plate is qualified for sour service per NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156-3 Table A.10 with the standard envelope: H₂S partial pressure up to 1000 psi (6.9 MPa), temperature up to 400°F (204°C), chloride to saturation, hardness cap 35 HRC max in Class 2 (aged) condition. NACE-stamped MTC included on every sour-service plate order.

    Plate Applications

    • Pressure-vessel shells: Sour-service separators, knock-out drums, scrubbers per API 6A / ASME Section VIII
    • Cladding plate: Carbon-steel substrate clad with Incoloy 925 surface (3–6 mm clad layer) for cost-effective sour-service vessels
    • Tube sheets: Shell-and-tube heat exchangers in sour duty, with Incoloy 925 tube bundle
    • Transition pieces: Welded transitions between dissimilar materials (carbon steel to Incoloy 825 piping, etc.)
    • Downhole tool bodies: Machined from plate stock when forging is impractical
    • Marine flange faces / pad eyes: Splash-zone and submerged service per marine application page
    • Strip-rolled welded pipe stock: Source plate for ASTM B704 welded pipe
    • Pulp & paper digester linings: Reducing-acid + chloride mixed environments

    Frequently Asked Questions

Class 1 vs Class 2, which should I order? Class 2 (annealed + aged) for finished pressure-vessel plate where the plate is the final component; Class 1 (annealed only) when there's downstream forming + welding + customer-side ageing planned. Most pressure-vessel orders are Class 2; cladding-plate orders are typically Class 1 (so the cladding can be re-annealed after explosive bonding to the carbon-steel substrate).

Is Incoloy 925 plate ASME-code-stamped? Yes, UNS N09925 is covered under ASME Section II Part B (specification SB-983) and ASME Section VIII Division 1/2/3 with maximum allowable stress values published in ASME Section II Part D Table 1B. For nuclear service, ASME III Code Case 2727 applies. TorqBolt is ASME-certified manufacturer for these code stamps.

What surface finish do you supply? Standard hot-rolled descaled (1D) for plate >5 mm; cold-rolled annealed (2B) for sheet ≤5 mm. Polished finishes (#4 satin, #6 dull, #8 mirror) on request, typically with a lead-time addition. Pickled-and-passivated to ASTM A380 / A967 on request for vessel-internal sour-service applications.

Can the plate be supplied with NORSOK MDS A30? Yes, for North Sea projects, plate is supplied with NORSOK M-630 MDS A30 documentation alongside the standard ASTM B983 MTC. TorqBolt is NORSOK M-650 qualified manufacturer.
